Don't know about you, but these crisp mornings get me all excited for the future and time for sewing.
And that is just what a dozen of our members did on Saturday's Sew Day.
Shelby is going to kill me when she sees this picture. Say hello to our newest members when you see them at the next meeting. (Janet has her back to us) New member Kathy on the left. (Sara in background) New Honorary Member (under 18) Shelby and new member - her mother - Stacie. We are so glad to have them with us.
As you can see, sewing machines and projects going all over.
Janet and Carol are starting a new quilt project. It is a Kansas Trouble Quilt, they each bought the kit and today was the day to cut them out.
Sara is finishing up a UFO project of Iowana's - with Sara's own flourish added in.
Jeanette K. is doing a quilt that takes 16 thousand million stars - not really, but when you are just starting out - that's what it seems like. They are only 4 1/2" small.
Leila is hand quilting a new creation of hers.
Jeanette D. brought several items in to work on. This one is one of the Birthday Flower of the Month BOM's for this year.
Heads Up Susie!
Jeanette also brought in a whole bunch of scarves for us to have a look at, that she wants to put in a crazy quilt. Of course we all said - talk to Susie, she is our crazy quilt guru. About all we could tell her is that she will probably have to have some stabilizer - lots of help weren't we? haha
Jenell worked like crazy toward her goal of getting a wedding gift for next weekend finished.
The fun part of a sew day is getting everyone's ideas when it comes to cutting 45 degrees and such. Think that is why Janet was laughing here.
Mom-Stacie looked on while Shelby cut out and squared up her blocks for a hot pad. When Shelby wasn't using the cutting mat, Stacie was.
Hayley got to join us for part of the day, she is home on school break. Was great to see her.
Kathy sewed part of the time and counted cross stitch the rest of the day.
She has a darling project in the works. Kathy - be sure to bring it in at the 6:00 pm embroidery meeting before our regular meeting this month - others will love to see what you are doing.
Both Jeanette's worked side by side on their projects. Little bit of a confusion when you speak out - Jeanette - who you talking to? Ask Jeanette D. about that sewing machine that you see there - quite a story.
Yeah! Before the day was over, Jenell finished her wedding gift.
Then she went on to something else that she would not let us see.
Now here is a woman who can handle difficult. Have you ever tried to keep something hidden in a room with 11 quilters? Not easy.
Carol and Janet finished cutting out all the pieces to their quilts before the day was out.
Shelby finished her block.
Stacie got all her pieces cut out and was working on what lay out she wanted.
We also had a few moments to learn the steps involved with making a Pop-up Thread catcher. Don't fret if you missed it - Carol said that she thinks it's on the agenda for next year somewhere.
Jeanette D. had a goal of finishing her thread catcher and she did it. Great job Jeanette.
Missed you all that were not able to be with us.
Lots of stories, tips and hints and just plain good times for all.
See you at this month's guild meeting.
Lots going on then!
