Museum Work started for 2014

The museum committee has worked twice so far in 2014.  The first time was to document a quilt, this time was to introduce new committee members to the procedures.
Martha brought in a quilt of her sisters for everyone to look at and make suggestions of how Martha could repair it.  Her sister did not realize that putting it into a washer with regular agitation could do such damage.
Leila and Erlene made some very good suggestions along with Bev and Dianne.
Bev and Leila finished sewing a quilt to the sheet protector that had been started last year.

Erlene and Martha watched what steps were involved and then proceeded to learn how to document quilts on the computer system that the museum has.

When Bev and Leila were finished - the photo session of the quilt was done.  Such a gorgeous basket quilt that unfortunately had been folded for too long and stored in the wrong place - you can see the discoloration and the fold marks.  Remember your own quilts - at least every 6 months (if not more) refold them in another direction and always use cotton sheets, pillowcases or acid free paper to protect them from the storage area.  Wood and cardboard can cause lots of damage.

Thank you to all of our volunteers on this years museum committee, we're looking forward to increasing our accomplishments this year.
