FAIR on Now !!!!!!

The heat got a few people down and the selection this year for the textiles at the Clay County Free Fair was much lower than hoped for.........but the quality was tops.

Sara got a Grand Champion for her purse - note the twilling - good teaching Susie.  Sara also got a red for her table top and Vevia got a first for her applique.

Like daughter, like mother - Congratulations Carol on your Reserve Champion.  Makes you want to reach out and pluck the Holly Hocks.

Vevia got a Reserve Champion for her mixed media - crayons, embroidery and piecing and a first for her "Storm at Sea - Faith" entry.  Carol talked Vevia into entering the crafts in the Floral Hall under 'Here we go again' for her bed spring pin cushion and it won a first.  Thanks Carol.

Sara finished her basket BOM and isn't it fantastic.  Naturally she got a first with it.  When time allows - we hope that Sara will start making her own patterns for all of us to try. hint hint hint hint

Carol finished her Raggedy Ann and Andy quilt and took a Red Ribbon. (Think she had that planned?)  Wait till you see it in person - it is awesome.

Like mother, like daughter, like Granddaughter.  Hayley is taking home quite a few ribbons in the 4-H divisions.  Her quilting skills are improving and she's learning such a broad scope of techniques.  Great Job Haley!  Hayley also got a Grand and Reserve in the floral area.  Judging was still going on when we left, so not sure who all ranked in other divisions.

Reva did take Grand for this cactus she entered.  Okay Reva - tell us what and where we can get a plant like this.  Wow!  How different.  The judges were impressed with how it went evenly around the pot.

Wanted to get this in here quickly - Erlene spoke about it at our meeting and there are signs up at the fair.  Call 632-5335 to sign up.

Monday night's meeting is in the works and should be on the site soon.  Come on down to the fair - so much going on, so much to see and the food is good too.
