Prebst. Manor presents Kansas Women and Their Quilts

Marketing Director Heather Germann did an excellent job presenting the trunk show available through the Kansas State Historical Society.
In 1846, the first manufactured batting was available - and yes - it is still on the market today....Sterns & Foster's Mountain Mist.
Heather presented pictures from the past, patterns, examples of different kind of batting and how they feel, blocks made from various types of fabric and an example of Sam Johnsons "Blue Ribbon Quilt". Some of the guild members really were thankful that they did not have to wear the bloomers of yester-year. Afterwards, a couple of the manor's residents honored us with a look at their own quilts and we visited with the quilt lady for a brief time with a song or two to lighten our steps as we left. This is a trunk show that we are going to have to find out more about and maybe present it at a guild meeting in the future.
