Occupational Titles Can Be Deceiving

When someone asks you what you do and you have to hesitate, think, and then start moving your hand in a wave action of up and down, right to left movement - then you are probably in the same line of work as our guest speaker Neva Anderson - "Hooker". Whoa!!!!!

Not what you are thinking. Neva HOOKS RUGS. (gotcha)

And what beautiful rugs they are. One of them especially caught our members eyes - Log Cabin. It was hard to believe that it was a hooked rug and not a quilted object. Neva showed members the various tools she uses and a brief demonstration of how you hook on both screening and material. She's got a real neat gadget for cutting the material. Most of her rugs are made with wool and are hooked into monks cloth or a burlap type of linen. Imagine how many ups and downs you would have to do just to spell out "Bless this house". Think I will stay with quilting, it is so much easier - right?
