To some of us, Gretchen looked very familar - we had met her on the bus trip to Des Moines last year. Jan got the scoop on her though and found out that she had a program all ready to give and signed her up then and there.
Gretchen's slide presentation was full of interesting quilts - notice what is in the background of "The Proposal" and once quilts were very much a part of interior design elements. There were slides showing families outside of their soddy's with their prized possessions on display along with the family members. Many of the prized possessions were quilts and a few sewing machines. The real fun was when we got to see all the old quilts that Gretchen brought along. She sure has a collection, and one that just flabbergasts the mind - to think they did it all by hand. Thank you Gretchen for a truly awesome history of quilting.
