A NIGHT AT THE FAIR

Our program for the April meeting was presented by Mary Jo Harbour of Manhattan, an experienced fair judge. As the requested theme was to be about preparing quilts for judging - Mary Jo decided that - A Night at the Fair with "benefits" - was the right fit.

Each step of the way she gave us pointers as to FIRST SIGHT, FABRIC MATTERS, MACHINE WORKS, SEWING SKILLS, LAST THOUGHT and some FUNKY ADVICE.

Her examples were a big help in seeing what she was touching on. She had quite a few "zingers" in her showing and many were her own designs.

The end result is last and not least - Do what makes YOU happy. If you have not enjoyed the experience of getting there - why even take the first stitch. When you have done something that you like and had fun doing -

it will be a treasurer to you with or without a ribbon.

Mary Jo left us with a table full of information and patterns. A big thanks to Mary Jo for taking away much of the trepidation we all feel in putting our items "up front". Knowing what is expected makes it easier.
